TEEX has a new Swiftwater Calculator application for the iPhone/iPod as shown below. Also attached is a flyer for the app, as well as a link to the TEEX press release on the TEEX website. A Link for suggestions to improve the application are contained in the flyer and email.
New app assists responders with swiftwater rescue
If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, download the new Swiftwater Calculator app from Texas Engineering Extension Service's (TEEX) Urban Search and Rescue division. The Swiftwater Calculator application provides responders a quick and easy way to determine the maximum distance someone has traveled downstream in swiftwater conditions. The application helps determine the speed of the swiftwater and will then calculate the distance someone would have traveled based on when they entered the water.
Features:
•Calculate speed of the swiftwater •Quick buttons to select time of incident •Constantly updates the distance traveled downstream
